couple of FOTDs

The first look is quickly becoming my go to look. I used to go straight for the pale skin, winged eyeliner and either neutral or red lip. I am getting older now and I am finding that the winged eyeliner does not look as good on me as it used to. I am also a lover of a strong eye and love playing with colour but lately I have been loving the taupe as an easy and quick eye look.

In the next one I can't remember exactly what products I used but I took the photos because I was trying out a new eye product for me. A friend at work gave me some Gosh products that she wasn't getting the use out of and I was excited to try the eyeshadow base.

It is in a stick form and is a sheer white with a slightly bluish flash it was too pretty to cover up completely so I just blended in a colour from the 17 metallic nudes palette and finished with a little eyeliner under the lashline smoked out with the same shadow.

Recent Nails

I have been really lazy, I have bought loads of stuff and done loads f nails but just not had the time or inclination to take pictures and blog it for you. I have been ill and work had been rough but I am excited to get started again so strap yourselves in because after this post with nails I did manage to take pics of the next post will be my 100th post give away. Then I can get to showing you hauls recent looks and discoveries.

This first colour is Passion from OPI, this is the colour I wore for my wedding and I love the way it makes my nails look. It is almost half way between a jelly and a cream and even with 3/4 coats its still slightly sheer. It just gives your nails that "perfect" false nail look and wears really well (on me it lasts about a week).

The next is a new discovery for me, this is from the Andrea Fulerton range at Super drug and is in the shade Mischa. She is THE manicurist to the stars and because of this her core range of polishes are all names after celebs, I also picked up Kylie. She also has a great selection of nail effects, glitters, nail art, stickers and layering shades. I was super excited for this range and finally manage to track it down to the Superdrug on the Strand but haven't managed to find it anywhere else. The prices are mid range with normal polishes at £4.99 and effects at about £8. The Mischa shade is a grey jelly base with lilac silver and gold glitter and honestly the photos don't do it justice, it's beautiful. It applies really easily and lasts fairly well.

This you have probably seen swatched a million times across the blogosphere but I just love the colour. This is Diva of Geneva from the Swiss OPI range. I just managed to snap one shot of it before I forgot great colour with only minor tip wear after a few days.

Again another one you have seen a million times but I wanted to share with you my nail disaster. This is of course Chanel Paradoxal 509. I wore this while we were away fro bank holiday weekend at my parent and my mother was admiring my long natural nails which were far longer than I normally have them. Then what do you know the next day I broke one clean off and now I know why I keep them in check, it's funny but I am kinda grossed out looking at how long they are in the pictures even though they didn't seem that long in person. I defiantly prefer them shorter like in the OPI Passion pictures.

A quick word on the shade, I was expecting it me be my hoy grail colour but the "secret shimmer" is so secret you can hardly see it. Can't fault the formulation though it's amazing just glides on exactly where you intend to put it, it's like it's psychic or something :)

This is one from Mavala called aquamarine, I love mavala for their quality and affordability. Don't get me wrong they are in no way value for money (per ml they work out quite pricey) but the quality is great, the longevity is great and the colours are good they tend to be a beat behind the big boys rather than a trend setter but they are getting quite fearless with the colours they release.

We are finishing off with another disaster, this is one the Hello Kitty polishes from H&M can't remember what it is called, applied horribly had no shine to it at all even with a coat of Seche, they glitter was lumpy and it was runny and gloopy in equal measures. I guess they can't all be winners.

Red lipstick Series - Chanel Rouge Allure Laque in 72 Coromandel

Hello everyone, it's hot, so very very hot! I have literally lazed around all day huffing and sweating so tonight I thought I would bring you something a little bit special in the red lippy series. Chanel Rouge Allure Laque in 72 Coromandel. I would never have purchased this normally but more on that later.

Colour (4.5/5)

An orange/gold tone fire red and I love it. It is too intense to be anywhere near a coral shade most definitely red though not orange and the shine is just amazing! Also for something so orange toned it actually makes my teeth look pretty white which is odd I always thought it was meant to be the other way around.

Application (5/5)

This straddles the gap between gloss and lipstick I like to think of it as a liquid lipstick because it is so heavily pigmented there is no way it could ever be a gloss. What makes it gloss like is the fact you apply it with a little fuzzy doe foot applicator which makes application so precise there is no way you can mess up. No brush work required with this it just glides on ad normally I don't even bother to line my lips before this one you just don't need to. You get a very intense coverage straight away and it is so handy for touch ups on the move.

Intensely rich colour and shine - yes. Lasts for hours - yes. Creamy formula - yes. Conditions and hydrates lips - meh, you see this is where it looses half a point for me after a day of wear with this my lips are a bit dry but more on that later. Full coverage - yes.

Wear (5/5)

This really does go all day and I think this is why it is drying my lips because I am just not re applying it enough. You don't need to it goes on glossy and a little wet/slippy then it kinda sets and just stays there your lips feel great and the colour always looks fresh.

Price (2.5/5)

I've gone right down the middle with the score on this one and here's why. It's £23, yes you heard me right £23 that's so excessive that I could never bring myself to ever ever spend that on a lip product. This one I picked up on a random sale self in Boots and paid £10 for it which in my books is still pretty high up there. What can I say though it's a luxe product with a luxe price tag and if you can afford that kind of thing it is more than worth it.

Packaging (4/5)

Beautiful, sleek, black, classic and everything you would expect from Chanel. I love pulling this out of my handbag as it is a really classy product the only fault I have with it is that it gets a little messy. the opening on the actual tube could be a little tighter as you get too much product on the applicator and you can't scrape it back into the tube it just goes everywhere. Nothing a bit of tissue wouldn't sort out but at £23 a pop I hate to be wasting product.

How it left the lips (3/5)

It comes off pretty easily with no skin staining and only left the lips a little dry.

Overall 28.5 out of 35 - kinda figures really if anyone is going to do an awesome red lippy it's going to be Chanel. If you can afford to pick one of these up then do they do 8 shades and I would love to test some of the others to see if they are just as good.
