Some recent nails (pic heavy)

Working backwards from what I have on my fingertips right now these are what I have been rocking in the past week.

This is Revlon's One Perfect Coral (990) and unfortunately the photo doesn't do justice to quite how bright this colour is. As the name says it is a perfect coral, not pink, not, red, not orange it falls right in the middle of all three and is quite neon. It applies really well and has a 50/50 jelly to creme formula which makes it a little more runny than I am used to and it is also quite sheer so you need a few coats before you get rid of your natural nail line. As with most Revlon nail enamels it lasts really well (only exception I have found was the Midnight Affair episode which disappointed).

Moving on to Sensuality from Mavala, application - great, wear - great and colour - meh! The hubby decreed he did not like this colour and I am still undecided.

I had my first little foray in to GOSH recently and I picked up a couple of their polishes. This is their legendary silver holo 549 after a tricky application (dumbo here used a base coat doh!) I topped it with Seche vite and it was rock solid in seconds. The effect is mesmerising and I had to take it off to stop me crashing into things because I was looking at my nails instead of watching where I was going. I was also getting a little disconcerted at random strangers grabbing my hands for a closer look.

My last look is again GOSH and its their flakie called Rainbow and this is over a Nails Inc Belgrave Place. I am looking forward to trying this out over lots of different colours to see the different effects.

Updates and purchases

hang on to your hats because I have loads to tell you about today and some nice little up dates on things I have been trying.

The first thing I am excited about is of course new polishes. I got 2 OPI, Met on the internet (I had to buy this one as this is how me and the hubby met nearly 12 years ago) and the second is Lincoln Park After Dark in Matte which is great because I love the colour and have wanted to try matte for a long time, plus I can make it like the normal one with a simple top coat. Kind of a 2 for 1 :)

Next is the one have have been lusting after China glaze "for Audrey" now anyone that knows me will tell you the only thing I love more than cosmetics (not including the hubby) is Tiffany's so Tiffany colour nail polish makes me squeal with delight.

Now for the updates

The Hissyfit did indeed make me break out, Damn. Also weirdly it make my skin really dry the next day which is strange as it was so greasy so I guess I will think twice about this one.

The Incoco however was fantastic, I had to take it off today because I managed to crack my thumbnail unpacking a box at work and needed to do a repair. It's a bit of a bummer because it was holding up really well, tip wear but no chips and was still really glossy. It was in fact starting to grow out which is I think the only downside.

Lastly my latest purchases

When I heard they were doing NYX at Harrods I can't believe I managed to last over a week before I caved and went to check it out. With work bonus burning a hole in my pocket I dragged Hubby along to get my hands on some.

I bought the Glitterati palette which looks amazing, I love most of the colours and can't wait for an appropriate time to use them (don't think work would approve of this as a day look). I also picked up the Doll Eye Volume mascara and the Concealer in a Jar. The shade the MUA picked for me was 04 Beige and I have to say I was very dubious a I have never let a MUA pick a shade for me as they always chose to dark. When I got home I tried a little and I have to say she got it right and it covers up the eye circles very nicely.

OPI - Merry Midnight

I was very excited when these came out and on asking my girls the decided that Merry Midnight was so "me" (you see I am a bit of a purple diva) that I should go for Dear Santa. Now Dear Santa I love, 2 coats and it is perfect, it lasts really well and the colour is so vibrant it just looks amazing. I loved it so much that the next day I had to have the Merry Midnight thinking it would be just as good.

Boy was I wrong! It was an absolute nightmare to apply, the colour of the jelly is very sheer and the glitter is very dense which means I had to do 4 coats just to get it to look like purple. Once it was on it was so bumpy I had to do a top coat just to try and even it out and then I decided I didn't like the colour. How could this be I mean it's purple and it's sparkly but it just wasn't doing it for me. It wasn't until I got it into a really strong light that it came to life the electric blue glitter shone through and the flakes made it look multi dimensional, I loved it!

Then I stepped out of the light and hated it. My first love/hate relationship with an OPI well we live we learn.

Todays Mani

Had some time today to do a nice mani so I decided to try out my new China Glaze Fairy Dust top coat. The mani is 2 coats of OPI Passion with 2 of the Fairy Dust. It is quite difficult to capture how sparkly and holographic the glitter is but it looks really pretty.
